In Memory

Jerry Parchia

Jerry Parchia. He was killed while in the 9th grade at Woodbury JH back in 1977 I believe. His death is a tragic reminder of how bullying can escalate and go very bad. He was lured by his classmates he trusted and was killed for reasons known only to them. Had he lived he would have graduated with us.

If I had to write an obit it would maybe be: Jerry was a misunderstood kid who was very bright. I believe he had to deal with many hardships outside the school just to survive. He liked to be at Woodbury because I think he felt more at home there. He was always energetic, sometimes to a fault. He was a bit of a joker and tried hard to fit in but had trouble making real friends. He loved to play chess and I think he found some comfort in the strategy of the game, being able to lose himself into that world and challenge himself mentally. His life was taken away too soon, a life that could have been great. I still remember you Jerry. Rest in peace.
